Mikal-Ellen (pronounced “Michael-Ellen”) is a Registered Patent Attorney, licensed to practice in the State of West Virginia as well as before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. She has represented clients from all over the world in trademark and other intellectual property issues.
Mikal-Ellen’s approach to intellectual property is shaped by her background in corporate litigation, financial law, and her graduate school training as a biochemist. While recognizing that quick resolutions to matters are often in the best interests of all parties, Mikal-Ellen is not afraid to represent clients in litigation matters in state and federal courts, as well as before the USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeals board and Patent Trial and Appeals Board, and has done so with success.
Mikal-Ellen, originally from West Virginia attended law school at WVU’s College of Law, graduating in 2005. A lifelong Mountaineer, Mikal-Ellen is also the Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the West Virginia Bar, having taught Continuing Education courses for WV Bar members, and a published author in the emerging fields of sports gambling and marijuana law.
With a lifelong love of sports and a love of numbers and statistics, Mikal-Ellen is a huge WVU fan in all sports and an overall “sports nut.” When not enjoying her work or time with her family or watching sports indoors, Mikal-Ellen can usually be found reading and spending time with her daughter and “granddog”, as well as her own Whippet-Lab (or “Whippador”), outdoors.
